Locals discovered the cave in 1995 after their goat fell into a deep gorge. They heard the sound of the goat but couldn't see it. Later, they found the goat inside the cave. This led to the naming of the cave. The locals found the cave very attractive due to its 65-meter circumference (round), 25-meter height, ladders with a waterfall, and the habitat of bats. The cave features numerous shapes resembling animals such as elephants, bulls, snakes, crabs, and mountain formations, all crafted naturally from limestone and water. Subsequently, they began advertising it for tourism. This cave is considered unique in South Asia. Geologist Dr. Krishna KC named the cave as Millennium Cave and trek as Millennium Trek in 2000 with 7 days long plan connecting more than 41 villages of different castes and ethnicity.
