The Langtang Valley Trek is situated within the Langtang National Park and is regarded as the third Most Popular Trek in the Nepal Himalaya, following the Annapurna Circuit and the Everest Base Camp trek. This valley, running from east to west, provides stunning alpine landscapes and a wonderful opportunity to encounter the unique Tamang people. The locals here adhere to Tibetan Buddhism and speak the Tibetan language, distinguishing them from the Tamang people in the lower regions.
Upon crossing the narrow valley along the Langtang River, we enter the main valley, surrounded by towering peaks such as Langtang II (6571m), Langtang Lirung (7246m), Yansa Tsenji (6543m), Yala Peak (5500m), Morimoto (6750m), Langtang Ri (7205m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), Karpo Ri (6830m), Langshisha Ri (6370m), Gang Chhengpo (6388m), Ponggen Dopku (5930m), and several others. Kyanjin Ri (4773m), Tserko Ri (4984m), and Langshisha Kharka are the recommended side trips and viewpoints along the journey.
While a minimum of one week is necessary for the trek, trekkers should allocate additional days for acclimatization and exploring side attractions within the valley. Before your trip starts your guide would be brief about the trip shortly, this will be the pre-trip meeting for you, so please make sure that you ask all the questions.

In the early morning, we embark on an approximately eight-hour journey from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi, utilizing a public bus. Our route traverses picturesque foothills, ridgelines, and hills, passing through Dhunche, where we catch a glimpse of the majestic Ganesh Himal while driving alongside the powerful Trishuli River. The drive is made wonderful by terraced green hills and lush forests, although certain sections of the road may be uneven and undergoing construction.

The trail for today crosses the Bhote Kosi, translating to the 'Tibet River,' originating from nearby Tibet and flowing alongside the Langtang River. After approximately an hour of walking on an off-road path, you'll reach a location called Dovan. From Dovan, the trail gradually ascends through sub-tropical forests, passing through Pahiro, Bamboo, and the riverside, ultimately leading to Lama Hotel. Along the way, it's possible to spot langur monkeys in the trees, observe beehives in the rock cliffs, and see deer at the riverbank. Although the trail from the bridge to the Lama Hotel becomes steep, the payoff is a comfortable bed in this small settlement.
The trek proceeds with an ascent through the forest, offering intermittent views of Langtang Lirung through the trees. This area was once a Tibetan resettlement project, but it has now transformed into a Nepal Army post with no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues its gentle climb through the valley, passing a few settlements and guesthouses utilized by herders who bring their livestock for grazing in the high pastures during the summer. If you haven't already, you'll likely catch a glimpse of your first yak.
After approximately 7 hours of walking through the enchanting pine and rhododendron forest, as well as pastures, we will arrive at Langtang village. The original Langtang village was devastated by a massive landslide in 2015. Presently, a new settlement and lodges have taken its place.
Departing from Langtang village, the trail ascends gently through wide yak pastures, revealing more stunning scenes as the valley unfolds. Crossing numerous small streams and moraines along the way, the path eventually leads to the settlement at Kyangjin Gompa. This location features a modest monastery and a government-operated cheese factory, offering an opportunity to restock supplies for lunch and afternoon snacks.
Arriving by lunchtime provides abundant leisure time in the afternoon to explore the surrounding area.
Climb either Tserko Ri (4,984 m) or Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m), both of which stand as the highest points of this trek and are situated directly behind the village. From these viewpoints, you can relish a breathtaking panoramic view of the Langtang Range. After spending ample time soaking in the scenic beauty, descend back to Kyanjin Gompa and enjoy leisure time in the village.
From Kyangjin Gompa we retrace the route you followed up the valley, following the Langtang Khola to Mundu village and on to Ghoda Tabela. The descent will be faster than the ascent. After lunch, continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel.
Today we continue retracing to Syabru Besi, enjoying the quiet forested hills. If you are feeling fit, take the spectacular route from Rimche via Sherpa Gaon to Syabru Besi; it will take much longer to reach the ultimate destination, but it’s a stunning detour.
After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu from Sybru Besi which will take some 8 hours on a public bus.
